What Makes Đa Ploa Stream Special

Đa Ploa Stream sits in Đạ Huoai district in the southernmost part of Lâm Đồng province, in the transitional zone where the Central Highlands begin to drop toward the lowland forests of Đồng Nai and Bình Phước. The Stream is multi-tiered, fed by streams draining the highland plateau, and flows through dense secondary jungle that sees almost no foreign visitors. Đạ Huoai is one of Lâm Đồng's least-visited districts - far from Đà Lạt's tourist infrastructure, with no significant English-language travel content covering it. The area's remoteness is its appeal: the approach is a genuine forest trail, the falls are unmanicured, and the swimming at the base is the kind of experience that requires actual effort to reach.

🚗 Getting There

Đạ Huoai district is in southern Lâm Đồng, approximately 150km south of Đà Lạt and about 130km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. From HCMC the most direct route is via Highway 20 through Đồng Nai into Lâm Đồng - a journey of 2.5-3 hours by motorbike. From Đà Lạt, Highway 20 south covers the distance in about 3 hours. Đạ Huoai town is the last point with fuel, food, and phone signal before heading to the falls. From there, the trailhead requires local directions - GPS tracks are unreliable and asking at Đạ Huoai town is the practical approach.

👀 On the Ground

The approach to Đa Ploa involves a motorbike ride on narrow forest roads followed by a forest trail with river crossings. The falls themselves consist of multiple drops over basalt rock formations, with a clear pool at the base suitable for swimming. The surrounding forest is intact enough to feel genuinely removed from the plantation landscapes that dominate much of southern Lâm Đồng. Expect no signage, no ticketing, no food vendors, and possibly no other visitors on weekdays. The total time from Đạ Huoai town to the falls and back is approximately 3-4 hours.

🧳 Tips

Đa Ploa is the kind of Stream that rewards the traveler who has already done Pongour, Datanla, and the other Đà Lạt circuit falls and wants something that requires more than a 10-minute walk from a car park. The remoteness is genuine - this is not performative off-the-beaten-path tourism. If mày is routing through southern Lâm Đồng between HCMC and Đà Lạt by motorbike, Đạ Huoai district and Đa Ploa make a logical and rewarding overnight stop that almost nobody on the standard tourist circuit makes.

Based on real traveler experiences and commonly mentioned advice from multiple visitors.

Bring your own chair for stream area as there are no tables or formal seating available
Pay entrance fee (50k-100k per person) covers trash collection and facilities; actively manage your own waste
Bring cash as the site operates on cash-only basis for most transactions
The trail to the falls involves river crossings that become impassable during heavy rain - check conditions locally before setting out in the peak wet season (August-October)
Motorbike is the only practical way to reach the trailhead - the roads into Đạ Huoai district are paved but narrow and not suited to cars in wet conditions
Bring water shoes or sandals with grip for the rocky approach to the base pool - the rocks are permanently wet and mossy
No facilities at the site - pack food and water from Đạ Huoai town before heading in
The swimming at the base pool is the reward for the approach - the water is cold and clear even in the wet season
