Hà Nam Province

Hà Nam is a small province just south of Hanoi that punches above its weight spiritually - it's home to Tam Chúc, the largest Buddhist complex in the world by area, a vast lake-and-pagoda landscape that received over 4 million visitors during its 2019 opening ceremony. The Vũ Lâm valley and Bà Đanh pagoda add quieter pilgrimage options. For solo travelers, it makes an easy half-day trip from Hanoi into a landscape of limestone hills, lakes, and ancient temples.
